Motherwell fans have found themselves at odds over the loan signing of Rangers' Jake Hastie this morning.

The former 'Well winger left Fir Park last season to join Steven Gerrard's men and some Motherwell supporters have not yet forgiven him for opting to leave.

And, after rejoining the Steel Men on a season-long loan deal this morning, some supporters refused to quietly accept Hastie's return, complaining on social media in response to the announcement.

One moaned: "Don’t disagree with much that the board do, but this is a terrible decision. He was so disrespectful when he left that it will take some world class performances for the majority of the fans to accept this. Thought the grass was greener( bluer?) despite advise by the club."

Another said: "Please delete," while one commented: "I'm not angry, I'm just really f***in' disappointed."

Others were delighted, on the other hand, choosing to look past his previous departure. And they were excited to see the player recapture the form that saw him sign for the Light Blues in the first place. One wrote: "Welcome back Jake.  The negative comments will pass, try and ignore them." Another said: "Once the goals start coming in Jake you’ll be back at home forget the bams."

One fan added: "Welcome back Jake, hopefully you can thrive with us this season," and a fourth commented: "Brilliant news, great to see him back playing."

Hastie managed 16 appearances for Rotherham on loan last season where he scored three goals. Though he has only made two appearances for Gers. Hearts had also been hoping to land the playmaker before Motherwell confirmed the deal.
