HIBERNIAN will vote YES to the SPFL’s proposal to scrap the season - potentially paving the way for Hearts to be relegated
The Hibees’ decision was made on Friday afternoon and could prove to be decisive when the count comes in.
The capital club were one of two top-flight clubs understood to be ‘undecided’, along with Ross County.
With Rangers, Hearts and, reportedly, Aberdeen set to reject the proposal, just one more club is required to say no in order for the plan to be kicked out.
However, that will NOT be Hibs, with chief executive Leeann Dempster deciding to back the SPFL’s plan after much deliberation and discussions with owner Ron Gordon and sporting director Graeme Mathie
Hibs’ decision may come as a surprise, given Dempster urged patience earlier this week and stated that clubs should not ‘batter in’ to any rushed proposals.
Should the proposal’s gain 75 per cent of the vote among the SPFL’s 42 member clubs, it paves the way for Hibs’ city rivals Hearts to be relegated if the Premiership season cannot be completed.
