ST MIRREN striker Jon Obika wants to emulate relegation rivals Hamilton by landing a shock at Celtic Park tomorrow.
Neil Lennon’s men have lost only twice in the league at home over the past four seasons.
Obika, though, believes Accies’ stunning win at Ibrox on Wednesday night proves Saints can go to Parkhead and pull off an upset.
He said: “You look at the Hamilton result from the other night and it shows what can happen. Livingston also drew with Celtic in midweek so those teams at the top are going to drop points. And we have to hope it’s against us.
“We need to be ready. We may only get one or two chances against Celtic and we need to take them.”
Jim Goodwin’s men lost 2-0 at Parkhead in their previous outing back in October. But despite the defeat Obika said there would be no fear factor ahead of the return.
He added: “I remember the last game against Celtic at Parkhead and I enjoyed it.
“We didn’t get the points that day but we played well in that game. And we should be confident about going back as there’s no fear now.”
Saints are only four points clear of Hearts at the bottom of the table but Obika insists there is no panic in the squad about their situation.
The former Spurs forward said: “Game to game we focus on ourselves as we know the table is going to change.
“There are 10 games to go so we know it’ll change a lot. The quality is definitely good enough here to get us safe.
“There is a confidence within the squad and I feel that everyone is starting to look the part. I feel we are gelling together, defensively we are solid and I know as a striker that in these type of games it just takes one chance to change things.
“We have Celtic and Hearts coming up and these are big games for us.”
Saints failed to take advantage of their extra-man advantage to beat St Johnstone on Wednesday night. And Obika, who hit the post in the first half, admits it was a frustrating evening.
He sighed: “It was disappointing as you look at the way we played. We wanted the win. You saw that with the changes we made as it was a very attacking line-up.
“We just fell short as we lacked that bit of attacking edge and the St Johnstone ‘keeper made a few great saves. As a forward we know we should be scoring a few.
“I thought my shot was going inside the post. We tried to find ways through their defence but St Johnstone were quite solid. Now we have to look forward to the next game.”
