A 20-YEAR-OLD Ecuadorian midfielder has claimed he is in negotiations with Celtic about a move to Parkhead.

Sergio Qiuntero, who has been capped by his country's under-20s side, has revealed that talks are at an advanced stage with Neil Lennon's side.

It comes after Olivier Ntcham told a French publication that he was looking to move on from Celtic, claiming that Scottish football was holding him back.

Qiuntero, who helped the Ecuador under-20s to a surprise semi-final appearance at the recent World Cup in Poland, revealed that although he has other options, there could be developments at Celtic Park over the coming week.

"I'm thinking about a move to European football. I'm trying to be calm about it and take it easy," said the Imbabura midfielder.

"The representatives of Celtic have been in talks for some time with the president of Imbabura.

"An agreement has to be reached this week if the transfer is to go through.

"But if the deal doesn't go through I am relaxed because I have offers from other clubs in Europe and Ecuador. It's important to make the best decision for me."
