JAMES Forrest has completed a personal treble by adding the Ladbrokes Premiership Player of the Season award to the PFA Scotland and Scottish Football Writers' Association prizes he has already collected.
The Celtic winger will try and help the Parkhead club beat Hearts in the William Hill Scottish Cup final at Hampden on Saturday and become the first in Scottish football history to complete a treble treble.
But the 27-year-old, who has scored 22 goals for club and country in the 2018/19 campaign, has already lifted his third individual honour to this term from the top flight sponsors.
“I’m really grateful to have won this award and it’s indication of what a great season we have had as a team," he said.
“Last season was my best season in terms of stats, but I have kicked on again this season and I have had the added aspect of the international scene and doing well for Scotland
“We know it will be tough against Hearts on Saturday but we are so determined to finish the season with all three trophies again.”
David Macdonald of Ladbrokes said: "James Forrest has been remarkable for Celtic this season and we wish him and his team mates the best of luck ahead of the Scottish Cup final."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
