Rotator Cuff Tendonitis
The rotator cuff supports the ligaments and tendons in the shoulder joint, this area can become damaged due to overuse. The injury can be incredibly painful and debilitating to those who suffer it.
Players with poor serving form can be affected by rotator cuff tendonitis, they can alleviate the pain with anti-inflammatory medicine and the RICE treatment.
Stress Fracture
Stress fractures can occur in the legs, feet, and back, and players who suffer from a stress fracture will need to take time off to let the injury heal. Stress fractures occur when muscles tire and pressure is put on bone. This typically happens when players train too much, too quickly.
According to studies, 20 percent of junior tennis players suffer stress fractures. However, the injury can occur with professional tennis players. Many of the world’s elite players can suffer from the injury as they train for a big tournament or in the offseason. Ahead of the 2017 WTA season, Petra Kvitova was plagued by a stress fracture in her foot that she struggled to overcome.
