Kieran Tierney has been ruled out of Scotland's opening Euro 2020 qualifier against Kazakhstan in Nursultan tomorrow through injury.

The news is a major blow to national manager Alex McLeish as Liverpool left back Andy Robertson stayed behind to undergo an operation on a tooth abscess.

McLeish is hopeful both Tierney and Robertson will be fit to face San Marino in his side's second Group I game in Serravalle on Sunday.

Elsewhere, Callum McGregor, the Celtic midfielder, has been named Scotland captain in the absence of Robertson and Tierney.
