TEENAGER Jamie Barjonas thanked Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha for giving him his Ibrox debut in the 2-1 Ladbrokes Premiership win over Hearts.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who made his first appearance the previous weekend, came off the bench again and helped his side see out the game and clinch third.
Barjonas told Rangers TV: “It was very nerve-wracking when I was coming on but when I got on I just tried to play my game, do what I am good at, keep it simple. I thought it was amazing. It is a dream come true. Making my debut at Firhill and now making my home debut is unbelievable. I was a wee bit taken aback as I didn’t know I was going to get on.
“It was brilliant to get on to the bench and to get on is an add-on. Cheers to the gaffer for having faith in me. Hopefully I can keep going, getting more game time and to keep winning.”
Joe Garner and Barrie McKay scored Rangers’ goals with Esmael Goncalves’ levelling in between.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
