EVERY public authority in the UK has been invited to apply for portraits of King Charles to hang in buildings across the country.

The £8 million scheme aims to “carry on [the] tradition” of public buildings displaying a portrait of the reigning monarch, according to the Cabinet Office, the Government department responsible for the scheme.

We asked every council in Scotland whether they have applied for portraits. Please note, this list is incomplete due to a lack of complete responses and will be updated as they come in.

While state schools and nurseries are owned by councils, they can apply for portraits separately and it is not known how many have done so. This list refers only to whether councils have applied for portraits.

They are most commonly displayed for citizenship ceremonies, though the pieces of legislation which outline the processes for this do not mention this as a necessity.
