INTERESTING to read about Cameron Greer, he of the new Scottish Liberals for Independence group. My first ever vote in England was for Jo Grimond, he of the original Liberal Party, before I discovered the Labour Party. Oh well, such was my political life while in England.
It seems that the LibDem leader Alex Cole-Hamilton has not the will to affiliate these young “Yes for independence LibDems” to his party, even though he barely makes any impression within the Holyrood Parliament with his gang of four, including himself.
Anyway, I have to say I like Greer’s style in wanting to also break free from the “undemocratic monarchy”. Good thinking, and not a bad idea to replace it with an Irish-style ceremonial president system. That idea has been poked around a few times in the past by those averse to any monarchical relationship.
I’m sure Cameron Greer and his new Yes group would be made very welcome within the Yes movement, and as much as any other of the indy groups within the AUOB. After all said and done, we are all under one banner for Scotland’s return to an independent country, and have been, for some many years, and the rest of us since the build up to 2014 and beyond.

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
