WHY so much argument about the legality/illegality of various routes to independence? Our sovereign right to choose is validated very clearly in a number of ways.

1. The original Treaty of Union states that we can choose to leave in future if we wish.

2. The Claim of Right confirms the right of the sovereign people of Scotland to decide their future form of government 3. The United Nations supports the right of every nation to decide their own future.

4. The Scotland Act after the 2014 vote reaffirms that same right for Scotland.

5. The Claim of Right was accepted by Westminster in 2018.

What more evidence of our right to decide do we need? And how do we verify the will of the people if not by referendum? At that time, the majority vote can be taken as the will of the people, since those who care enough one way or the other will exercise their right to register their wish, while those who do not exercise that offered right should be assumed not to care enough to make the choice.
