MURDO Fraser really took the biscuit at First Minister’s Questions this week when he asked if pensions in an independent Scotland will be paid by the taxpayers in England! The First Minister was quick to clear up the situation as per the Pensions Secretary Steve Webb, who stated in 2014 that those who had accumulated rights under the Westminster system for entitlement to a state pension will experience no difference.

However, the FM went on to highlight to the chamber that the present system under Westminster affords pensioners in the UK one of the lowest pension in the developed world, and certainly the worst in Europe. So instead of challenging the FM, Murdo Fraser may want to lobby his colleagues at Westminster on behalf of the long suffering pensioners, including the Waspi (Women Against State Pension Inequality) women he represents at Holyrood.
