I SEE that just like Henry McLeish, former union boss Len McCluskey thinks Scottish Labour should support a second referendum but falls short of declaring absolute support for independence. He did, however, state that the SNP “have stolen the radical clothes of Scottish Labour.”

This made me think of Scottish trade union members. Many (maybe the majority) will possibly be SNP supporters. Traditionally certain trade unions are affiliated to the Labour Party and donate money to the party but as McCluskey implies, the SNP is now the preferred party of many of the Scottish trade union members.

So do they now reflect the membership wishes and donate money to the SNP?

I don’t know if they do but clearly, if they don’t, they should. Maybe a fellow reader of The National could enlighten me regarding this.
