THE Irish because of their history know full well how devious the UK Government can be, with legal documents littered with what Westminster calls constructive ambiguity (Tories pick fight with EU to blame it for Brexit problems, says former Irish PM).

They also know full well the “divide and conquer” and “picking a scapegoat to blame for our ills” tactic that the UK Government uses.

We and particularly our First Minister need to learn from the Irish, thankfully Irish current and former political leaders are not shy in telling us what to look out for. Our FM needs to toughen up and smarten up, the best thing she could do is bring in the likes of John Bruton as an advisor.

Our FM is up against one of the most devious political parties in the world. The Tories have a track record of poor governance, but they have an excellent record of winning political dog fights.

They know how to win at any cost, including when the mood suits them, ruthlessly ditching a leader, blaming them for all their ills and claiming to be a new, more fluffy and nice party.

Our FM needs to fully appreciate what she is up against and an outside special adviser from Ireland would be of immense value in this regard.
