SCOTLAND fans that travelled down to London to cheer on the men's national team have been experiencing a little taste of home.

Drizzle, the most quintessentially Scottish of all forms of weather, is expected to cover London as Scotland take on the Auld Enemy at Wembley in the Euro 2020 tournament.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon shared the grim forecast but provided a ray of sunshine as she wished Scotland manager Steve Clarke and the team well in their second match of the Euro 2020 group stage.

She tweeted: "Even the weather in London is Scottish today.

"Wishing the very best of luck to Steve and all of@ScotlandNT - here’s hoping we can raise the [Saltire] over Wembley tonight."

The weather seems to be getting the nerves up for England fans with Piers Morgan tweeting: "The harder it rains in London, and the colder it gets, the better Scotland’s chances tonight. It’s like a heatwave for them."

Meanwhile, Scottish fans have been making the most of the weather, bringing an almost festival-like experience to London's Leicester Square.

However, there is a hope that the poor summer weather will dissuade fans from gathering in public spaces.

A dispersal order has been issued for central London ahead of the match with the police saying it would "prevent the public being caused alarm, harassment and distress".

Dispersal orders give police extra powers to break up groups of two or more when they believe their behaviour is causing a nuisance, harassment or distress.

The order runs until 3pm on Saturday.

Thousands of fans have already travelled down to the city and are expected to gather in Hyde Park due to the Trafalgar Square fan zone being reserved for key workers.

Scotland take on England at Wembley Stadium tonight with the match kicking off at 8pm.
