IT seems self-awareness is a skill that hasn’t been taught to Mhairi Black MP (We in SNP must take Labour’s fate as a serious warning, June 5). In her review of Labour it should be noted that it took more than 70 years for Labour to turn into the self-serving New Labour but it’s taken the SNP only seven years to achieve the same feat.

We have a First Minister who only mentions independence when she runs into trouble with her other policies. Almost seven years since we lost the first indyref and the self-proclaimed party of independence is no clearer to calling a second referendum never mind winning it! Sturgeon clings on to her one policy foray on independence – the hated sustainable growth plan – which has been superceded by party policy on creating our own currency.
And as for infighting – maybe if Ms Black would stop shooting her mouth off about TERFs then there would be less infighting within the SNP. Instead of slagging off valued long-standing party members like former Treasurer Douglas Chapman, maybe the party should ask why he didn’t have the information to sign off the accounts!

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
