Anyone would think he is ashamed to “represent” Scotland when he complains about money spent on foreign offices by the SNP, conveniently forgetting it was the Tories who set them up.

Then when the BBC call on the present Secretary of State for Scotland or the previous Secretary of State to answer questions about Cummings and Hancock, neither of the are available. None of the Tory MPs are available, and neither is the current leader of the Tories in Scotland. Once more they follow Ruthie’s lead – when the questions get awkward or hard, they disappear and go into hiding.

These are the people who were on the radio and television endlessly before the election but now are nowhere to be seen, and are doing to the Scottish farmers what they have already done to the fishermen while America is looking on and eyeing up the opportunities for non-tariff deals on beef and chicken.

The promises of having the same standards or agricultural methods from importing countries is another promise which can be easily broken on the altar of trade deals brokered by the UK so that they can headline new trade deals and boast about them whilst ignoring the markets on their own doorsteps. They will cite cheaper prices for consumers as their goal while ignoring the cries of our own producers.

If even half of what Cummings said is true, it paints a picture of a dysfunctional government unable to govern and pulled out of a very deep hole by the unstinting work of the NHS, public health, the scientists and the many who continued to work throughout the pandemic whether delivering food, keeping the streets clean or running public transport etc while Boris and his cronies laughed all the way to the bank.
