WHEN Boris Johnson was elevated to Tory leader, I said that the country was headed for a disaster of biblical proportions. I said that Boris Johnson was a malignant narcissist and an incompetent buffoon who hid in a fridge to avoid a reporter. I said he was a lazy unrepentant liar.
He is a Poundland Trump. He thinks of nothing else other than making money and coitus. At the start of the pandemic, frontline NHS workers said there were shortages of PPE and other vital equipment and no plan for dealing with the outbreak. Johnson’s government denied this and said there was one. Thanks to Dominic Cummings, now we know Boris Johnson was lying.

Johnson seemed not to grasp the seriousness of the outbreak. Even saying Dr Chris Whitty should inject him with Covid-19 on TV to show it wasn’t as bad as was being said.
His preening Health Secretary lied about a protective bubble being put around care homes and about Test and Trace. All so Matt Hancock could go on TV and “look good”.
Had there been proper leadership instead of this grotesque and incomprehensible Tory freak show, tens of thousands of people would still be alive. The Tory response was designed to protect the profits of the Tory donors. Hundreds of thousands were literally sacrificed on the altar of Tory greed.
Johnson, Hancock and the rest of the Tory ghouls should be arrested, tried, convicted and jailed for a very long time for mass manslaughter.

WHAT a surprise that the BBC in Scotland version of the Dominic Cummings story is to try to imply the SNP Scottish Government did something wrong! Instead of trying to analyse why we’ve ended up in a situation where a known liar is Prime Minister and employs an equally proficient liar as his chief adviser, the BBC in Pacific Quay search desperately to throw some mud at the First Minister and the Scottish Government.

Their charge is that the First Minister upset the incompetent and corrupt Tories, by breaking away from a four-nations approach to Covid. Well no wonder! It’s difficult to know which of the liars to believe, but it was certainly clear that Westminster wasn’t interested in the lives of people dying of Covid – they were only looking at how to fill their own pockets as the graveyard filled up due to their negligence.
It’s bad enough having a corrupt government, but the BBC does itself no favours when it acts as the 21st-century equivalent of Pravda – always looking to deflect any attacks on the Tory government. No wonder people in Scotland refuse to pay the TV tax that funds this corrupt organisation.

AFTER hours of evidence, Dominic Cummings has confirmed what we all suspected, although I am not sure that I would agree with his using the old World War One adage “lions led by donkeys” to describe the present Prime Minister and his government. I find the comparison disparaging, insulting and likely to cause upset to donkeys worldwide.

WITHOUT appearing to support the actions of Martin Bashir in his infamous interview of Diana, I am suspicious of the alacrity with which the UK Government, in the shape of the Home Secretary, have jumped on the issue. There is little doubt they, in common with most other interest groups in the country, think the BBC is biased against them. It has been clear for some time they would like to overhaul governance of the organisation, not least by making high-level appointments more aligned to their own view of life.

That so many shades of opinion believe the BBC has it in for them could be considered a good indicator of a public-service broadcaster’s balance, but it is extremely difficult to identify examples of its alleged bias against the Conservative establishment. It is, after all, designed to deliver a positive impression of the UK state.
The fact that the current government would like it to adopt a commercial model, in line with other more sycophantic branches of the mainstream media, shows that their objective is to convert it into an even more effective broadcaster of establishment perspective than it currently is.

HAVEN’T been to Lidl or Tesco for a while and I was unprepared. When I went in I had a severe bout of Jackanausia. They were everywhere. I began to hallucinate. Ian Murray had met up with Ginger Spice in full regalia. Him with the ludicrous suit, her with the – admittedly fetching – miniskirt. The faces were missing but their presence was unmistakeable. The effect was to induce headaches, stomach awareness, cramps and grumpiness. Feeling feverish, I spotted a lone Saltire, it was an oasis of sanity in a sea of turmoil. I left as quickly as a dignified exit would allow, forgetting half of what I had gone in for.

IN last Friday’s National Joanna Cherry referred to Glasgow being “our second city” in her piece (The groundwork for independence should be laid without delay, May 21). Clearly our largest city has taken quite a tumble, being once known as the Second City of the Empire.
