LESLEY Riddoch’s column in yesterday’s National hits the nail squarely on the head. Unionists and their supportive TV and newspapers will continue to bombard the Scottish people with supposed reasons why independence is bad for you. The independence movement seems to have forgotten how big money, false claims about the EU and the torrent of fake news about UK’s exceptionalism won the 2016 referendum. There was no serious opposition by Remain. Even the Prime Minister of the day, who claimed to be a Remain supporter, gave only an anaemic response to the many untruths being told.

Unless Yes wakes up to what is already happening – and will get worse as next May approaches – a new referendum may turn out as did 2014.

Wake up, Yes movement!
