HERE we go again – Labour struggling to claim second place in Scottish politics from the Tories, so out comes the tired old federalism promise. And just to underline how tired this promise is, the current Labour leader is asking Gordon – broken promises – Brown to lead a commission on how to take this forward.

Sorry, it simply won’t wash – what happened to the infamous Vow that Gordon Brown promoted? Why haven’t we got the closest thing to federalism, as promised by Brown in 2014? This is the usual Labour tactic of pretending to do something about the need for greater powers for the Scottish Government and in reality simply kicking the issue into the long grass.

Federalism isn’t the answer. We need the full powers of a normal nation to build a stronger yet fairer Scotland.

We need to get away from a corrupt UK Government which has put the interests of its backers ahead of keeping people safe from Covid. We need independence and we need it now!
