SCOTLAND is considered a British institution abroad, eh Boris? This one of the finest hybrids of Trump doublethink and Boris’s jolly Etonian hockey sticks yet.
If you have watched American cable news for any length of time, you will be well aware that, unless they are really concentrating, the UK and England are interchangeable.
If we ever had any concerns about the Tories “getting it” and somehow becoming capable of less bombastic imperialistic waffle ... we shouldn’t. It runs in Johnson blue-tinged blood (presumably replacing sensible thought processes). Hope someone is keeping an up-to-date montage of the plum and his tub-thumping nonsense.

JOHNSON says “it would be sad to lose the ‘magic’ of the UK". Well I suppose he’s kinda right... see the revenue from Scotland’s oil? Now you see it, now you don’t! See Scotland’s coastal waters? Abracadabra, they shrink before your very eyes! And let us not forget the ultimate trick ... remember the illusionary “Vow”? Where’s that gone? Up Westminster’s long sleeve?
Dear Mr Prime Minister the only thing that would be “pure magic” is your disappearance and Scotland’s independence. Now that’s a show I’ m sure we’d all queue up for!

Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
