I CANNOT agree with the people who are castigating The National for printing the collective letter from Alex Salmond’s accusers.

Isn’t censorship the very complaint we have been levelling against the mainstream media for years? The rags have withheld stories which were embarrassing to governments and the establishment forever, it seems.

It is only latterly that these deceits have been exposed by digital social media, but sadly only to a small percentage of the population.

My only question to The National would be – was it necessary to print the whole letter? Would not a simple report have sufficed?

However, what’s done is done, and I think it is very short-sighted of those who have taken the huff, and threatened the cancel the only newspaper which is on the side of Yes.
