DID anyone else feel as angry and frustrated as I did watching The Nine on Monday night, when Jackson Carlaw was allowed to repeat that the Section 30 order Alex Salmond signed contained the “pledge” that the referendum would be a once-in-a-lifetime event?

Are the BBC interviewers somehow prevented from picking up and correcting this deliberate twisting of one person’s statement of a current position with no future promise or prediction attached?

I cannot conceive that, after all this time and so many refutations and clarifications, they are still unaware of how false this statement is. Why does every interviewer allow this blatant distortion of the truth to be used as propaganda without correction?

Would a memo board in front of them for such interviews perhaps remind them that he was referring only to that present time? One might as justifiably say “this is the most beautiful day this year” in the month of May and treat that as a promise that there would never be another as good or better, later in that same year.
