SOME misprints are more diverting than others: if the well-known scourge of the SNP, Alex Cole-Hamilton, really was wearing his “canvass shorts” in Sainsbury’s, the notion of what slogan might have adorned said shorts and where it might have been located gives rise to an almost endless range of possibilities, from the farcical to the preposterous, although there’d hardly be room for much more than the party logo.

As for the notion that said MSP might have fabricated a slur on the actual canvassers currently working their socks off in Shetland: surely it can’t be possible that an elected LibDem politician would invent a piece of anti-SNP propaganda, and then feed it to the press – can it, Mr Carmichael?
