YOU would think that Scotland’s political journalists regularly hold editorial meetings in the Press Bar in Glasgow to decide who to go after next.

Having successfully dispatched one or two SNP politicians for the crime of being SNP and having done nothing wrong, they are turning their attention to the latest target, Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport Ms Jeane Tennent Freeman OBE MSP.

Smelling blood, the pack circle around a new hospital hoping that the bad publicity will force Nicola Sturgeon into a knee-jerk reaction, enabling them to claim another scalp.

The SNP have been criticised for not defending their politicians. The relentless coverage, empty of fact and filled with rhetoric, is a crude imitation of campaigns of old.

Having earned her honour for services to the rehabilitation of offenders, Ms Freeman would be well placed to offer help and support to those wishing her harm.
