JO Swinson is guilty of double standards when she complains about “harsh hostile politics” in Scotland yet fails to condemn the LibDem campaign leaflets in Edinburgh West in 2016 and 2017 which resorted to the politics of the gutter when attacking former SNP MP Michelle Thomson.

As part of the Tory coalition, Jo Swinson voted for going to war and Trident renewal, for tripling student tuition fees, for the bedroom tax, cuts to benefits for the disabled and terminally ill but against a ban on fracking. She also needs to explain how a majority in Westminster is good enough for a second EU referendum but an electoral mandate backed by a majority of MSPs in Holyrood isn’t good enough for indyref2.

The same goes for the local Labour MP and MSP in Edinburgh South, who have written to constituents explaining that they are in favour of another EU vote and extolling the benefits to Edinburgh of remaining in the EU, but are not that supportive of our capital city as their letter was printed in and posted from Newcastle.
