Will we be better or worse off if we leave the European Union? Do we have any power in the EU as it stands? Is there a way I can get answers to these questions in less than a minute?
We've got the answer to that last one covered. The National have created a series of 60 second videos featuring campaigners on both sides of the EU debate.
Have a listen now, and get involved in the debate in the comments section below.
REMAIN:
Labour MSP Pauline McNeill argues that the EU is good for economy.
Scottish Greens MSP Ross Greer asks if we really want to hand control of worker's rights over to the conservatives.
NUS Scotland President, Vonnie Sandland, argues that the EU helps protect the rights of workers and families.
SNP MEP Alyn Smith discusses how the European Union has been a war avoidance mechanism.
LEAVE:
UKIP Scotland's David Coburn asks if we would rather be ruled by Brussels or ruled by Westminster and Holyrood.
Vote Leave spokesperson Ben Sears talks how the fishing industry in Scotland could benefit from leaving the EU.
EDITOR'S NOTE: We are still awaiting confirmation of two final speakers to represent the case for leaving the EU.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
