Yours for Scotland.
By Laura Webster, editor of The National
THE Wee Ginger Dug will be bounding back to his regular newsletter slot on Monday. When he returns, we’ll be bringing you a revamped REAL Scottish Politics newsletter.
The National is proud of this offering – going out every weekday with top analysis and a perspective that isn’t offered anywhere else in the Scottish media. We’ve got to meet up to the rightly high expectations of our audience.
The new take on the newsletter will look to engage with you, its community, more closely. You’ll find out more about that on Monday, but we want this to be a space where he can help build a strong corner of the movement that is securing a better future for Scotland.
And it matches the ethos of The National.
As journalists, it's easy for people to get swept up into what's expected of them within the reporting clique, and it makes a lot of news feel the same. The National fills a key role in not falling into that trap and pursuing issues we know are important to people.
It can be grim watching the press pack jump on board with the same lines as each other every day. People give us hassle as a paper for daring to take other stances, not just on independence but topics like the monarchy and economics too. It's so important that we do.
So, we hope you enjoy our fresh take on the Real Scottish Politics newsletter, coming soon.
We’ll also have another new newsletter to unveil next week … and don’t miss our brand-new podcast! Click right here to listen to that.
