THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning with snow and ice expected to hit parts of Scotland.

Drivers are being told to prepare for snowy conditions overnight with wintry showers scheduled to impact parts of north and west Scotland.

Motorists and pedestrians are being warned to take care on roads and pavements, with icy patches expected to appear overnight.

The conditions are set to start on Thursday February 9 at 4pm and last until 9am on Friday February 10.

The Met Office said: "Wintry showers will affect northern and western parts of Scotland this evening and overnight. This will result in icy patches at low levels.

"Some snow accumulations of 1 to 2 cm are possible above about 150 m, with 2 to 5 cm above about 250 m."

It comes after forecasters warned of 75mph winds blasting parts of Scotland on Wednesday.
