PRITI Patel is apparently hatching a plan to entice Rwanda to become “Surrogate Britain” for refugee and asylum seekers.

Prior to handover transition of Hong Kong in the 1980s, a Scottish MP suggested that a Scottish island would be sold to Hong Kong so they could set up shop with their three million population.

That’s far from a bad idea. Allowing islands to have small relocation centres for immigrants would help in a couple of ways. Scotland has many islands and a dearth of population.

Housing is also required and economies of scale make building cheaper.

Whilst living in temporary accommodation, skills training and language can be gained. Not to mention the increase of population, for those that are granted asylum and wish to remain.

Canada has a restriction where an immigrant to one provenance cannot live or work in another province without approval. There are rough edges, but they are surmountable.
