Man in serious condition after Paisley attempted murder

A MAN is in a serious condition in hospital after an attempted murder in a Renfrewshire town.

Police were called to a report of a man being seriously injured after he was attacked on George Street in Paisley at around 8pm on Monday.

The 53-year-old was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Police are appealing for information about the incident in the town.

Detective Sergeant Daniel Small said: “It’s vital we trace the person responsible for this violent attack and I’m appealing for information from the public.

“Were you in the area at the time and saw what happened? Do you have CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage which has captured something of significance? If you have any information which could help, please get in touch.

“We have an increased presence in the area with officers carrying out CCTV and door-to-door inquiries. Anyone with concerns can speak to these officers.”

Roads in the area were closed while police carried out investigations, including George Street at Barr Place, Lady Lane at Argyle Street and Castle Street at Argyle Street, with local diversions in place.
