ORGANISERS of a hugely popular Hong Kong-themed market at the Barras have issued a statement ahead of this weekend’s Celtic v Hearts clash at Parkhead.
WeeUnion HK, the team behind the Hong Kong Market 2026 event, moved to reassure visitors that extra measures are in place on Saturday, May 16, when the first day of the market coincides with the title-deciding match in the East End.
The free two-day celebration is returning to the Barras for its fourth year, once again promising to transform the iconic market with Hong Kong street food, traditional games, live performances and cultural stalls.

In a statement shared on social media, organisers said: “Weeunion HK is aware that a major football final will be taking place at Celtic Park on 16 May, the 1st day of the HK Market.
“Please rest assured that we have already reported to the local police authorities, and additional security support is arranged by the Barras for crowd control and ensure the event runs smoothly throughout the day.
“For visitors travelling by car, we suggest to park near Glasgow Green and enter from that side where possible, in order to help avoid congestion around the area.
“WeeUnion HK and the Barras is working closely with the police to ensure a safe, enjoyable HK Market for everyone.”
The free two-day event is set to once again transform the historic Barras, with previous years drawing huge crowds keen to sample Hong Kong street food, traditional games and live entertainment.
