ABERDEEN city centre has been hit with major disruption after an 11-foot deep sinkhole opened up on one of its busiest main roads.
Urgent repairs on a section of Market Street have been carried out by Scottish Water after the sinkhole was discovered earlier this week.
Stell Road and Poynernook Road have also been closed temporarily while the emergency water works are being carried out.
It has been reported that the roads will be closed for the next seven to 10 days, from April 30, to allow Scottish Water to evacuate the sewer network and carry out the repairs.

Diversions are in place and drivers have been asked to follow local signage. Meanwhile, access to businesses and Union Square is being maintained.
Due to the imposed traffic restrictions, Aberdeen City Council has suspended the bus gates heading east on Guild Street, allowing motorists an alternative route through the city.
A spokesperson for Scottish Water said: “We’re currently carrying out emergency repair works on Market Street in Aberdeen after discovering a sinkhole.
“For safety, the road is closed between Stell Road and Poynernook Road while we excavate and repair the sewer network. We know this is a busy route and appreciate the disruption this will cause.
“Diversions are in place and drivers are asked to follow local signage. Access to businesses and Union Square is currently being maintained.
“We will continue to provide further updates as work progresses.”
