INTERNATIONALLY recognised actors Ewan McGregor and Sam Heughan are set to feature as part of a special series of events for Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s 75th Anniversary fundraising appeal.
McGregor and Heughan will both take part in "in conversation" events with artistic director and actor Alan Cumming this summer as the theatre aims to raise £500,000 by the end of 2026.
Tickets for both fundraiser evenings go on sale:
- Thursday, April 2, 12pm – Priority booking to Festival Circle and Patrons opens (Festival Gallery, Festival Cast and John Stewart Society)
- Thursday, April 9, 10am – Priority booking opens to Festival Friends
- Thursday, April 16, 10am – General on-sale
On Sunday, July 26, Heughan – best known for playing Jamie in the hit series Outlander – will join Cumming to discuss his journey from his Scottish roots to global success.
Audiences will hear Heughan reflect on the milestones as well as the projects and ideas that continue to drive him forward.

Owing to Heughan's strong advocacy of youth theatre and his role as Patron of Youth Theatre Arts Scotland, the theatre is to welcome the Pitlochry Festival Theatre Young Company for a curtain raiser opening the evening with a short extract of one of their recent performances.
On Wednesday, July 29, Cumming will then sit down with award-winning film and stage actor McGregor as he reflects on his career, from his breakthrough role as Renton in Trainspotting to international stardom in films such as Star Wars, Moulin Rouge and Black Hawk Down.
Organisers say the conversation will include "behind-the-scenes anecdotes and insights into the acting techniques" which have defined his work.
"Guided by Cumming’s warmth and curiosity, the special evening is set to offer a unique opportunity to hear one of Scotland’s most admired actors discuss his career, influences, and life in the spotlight for the last three decades," they add.
Cumming said: “I’m so excited and grateful that Sam and Ewan are both coming to support the work of this new era at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, and I hope they will return again soon to actually take part in one of the productions here, as their In Conversation evenings play such a vital role in supporting the theatre.”

McGregor added: “I’m very excited to be taking the drive up to Pitlochry soon to have a chat with my old pal Alan Cumming.
"Alan and I have bumped into each other on and off screen, at film festivals and theatre foyers for the length of our careers and it’s going to be so fun to chat with him on stage at Pitlochry to raise funds for this wonderful theatre”.
