A SPECIAL-EDITION lager brewed in collaboration with late Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir has recently rolled out across Scotland.
Cold Town Beer’s Doddie Beir was released in 112 Aldi stores across Scotland ahead of the Six Nations Championship.
It was created to honour both Weir’s legacy in the rugby world and also his brave fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

The packaging is minimalist but pleasant, sporting the classic Doddie Weir tartan.
I am told the Scottish sporting legend helped to brew this beer himself, opting for a classic Pilsner lager – which I, admittedly, have a weakness for.
I have to say it was very refreshing and crisp. A solid choice for those who enjoy a hoppy undertone to their lager.
By the time I tried it, it had cooled down a little from its time in the fridge. I reckon it would have been even tastier if it was really cold – something to bear in mind if you pick some up.
Knowing that this special-edition beer also helps to raise funds for the important My Name’5 Doddie Foundation made it taste all the better too.
The foundation was created by Weir after he was diagnosed with MND in 2016 with a goal to help fund the research needed to find a cure for MND.
Cold Town Beer has been a charitable partner of My Name’5 Doddie foundation for more than five years, donating a minimum of £11,000 per annum to support its efforts in the fight against MND.
It is being sold in Aldi in 440ml cans for £1.95, while stocks last.
