A SPECIAL-EDITION lager brewed in collaboration with late Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir is rolling out across Scotland.
Cold Town Beer’s Doddie Beir has been released in 112 Aldi stores across Scotland ahead of the Six Nations Championship.
Doddie Beir was created to honour both Weir’s legacy in the rugby world and also his fight against Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Elliot Lamb, head of sales at Cold Town Beer, said: “We’re incredibly proud to be partnering with Aldi to launch Doddie Beir across Scotland.
“This beer was created to honour the legacy of Doddie Weir – not only as a rugby legend, but as someone whose courage, humour and determination inspired people far beyond the sport.”
Weir personally helped brew this special edition lager in 2019, aiming to replicate his ideal lager that fans could enjoy while watching the rugby.
The special-edition beer helps to raise funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

Paul Thompson, director of fundraising at My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, said: “Every can of Doddie Beir purchased takes us closer to delivering on Doddie’s vision – a world free of MND – and we’re hugely grateful for the support of Aldi and Cold Town Beer as the product is rolled out across Scotland.”
The foundation was created by Weir after he was diagnosed with MND in 2016 with a goal to help fund the research needed to find a cure for MND.
Cold Town Beer has been a charitable partner of My Name’5 Doddie foundation for more than five years, donating a minimum of £11,000 per annum to support its efforts in the fight against MND.
Alan Leslie, buying director at Aldi Scotland, said: “We are proud to support this meaningful collaboration which allows our customers to enjoy this beer in the knowledge that proceeds will be donated to My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.”
Alongside this special edition beer, Cold Town has also launched a new Hazy Cold IPA, exclusive to Aldi.
Both beers will be sold in 440ml cans for £1.95, while stocks last.
