SCOTS would vote to leave the Union should an independence referendum be held tomorrow, a new poll has found.
The survey, conducted on behalf of the Alba Party by polling firm Find Out Now, found that 52% of Scots would back independence. On the opposing side, 42% said they would vote to remain in the Union, while 6% said they did not know.
With these undecided voters removed, support for Scottish independence is in a 10-point lead over support for the Union, by 55% to 45%.
This is a boost compared to the last time Find Out Now asked the same exact question in a poll for The National last month – where the survey found a four-point lead for Scottish independence – 52% to 48%.
Alba Party leader Kenny MacAskill hailed the results of the poll.

"This poll which shows Yes out in front provides the boost the independence movement needs,” he said.
"The need for independence has never been greater. People are recognising in ever increasing numbers that Scotland must have control over our massive energy resources to power our economy and to lift people out of poverty."
SNP MSP Jackie Dunbar, meanwhile, said: "After 14 years of Tory austerity and over a year of broken promises under Labour, it's no wonder a clear majority of Scots believe Westminster doesn't work for Scotland.
"Scotland needs a fresh start with independence – and the way to deliver that is with an SNP majority next May."
Scottish Greens co-leader Ross Greer added: “People across Scotland are rightly angry. They’re angry that their energy bills are rising, they’re angry at Westminster politicians attacking the most vulnerable people in our communities, they’re angry that despite promising ‘change’ Labour have continued cruel Tory policies and protected the super-rich.
“Independence is the only way to rid Scotland of toxic Westminster politics and the wealthy elites who exploit our country for their own profits. This poll clearly shows that the majority of people in Scotland believe our future should be in our hands.
“As an independent nation, we can take power away from the ultra-wealthy and give it back to the people. We can tackle the climate crisis and slash people’s bills, and we can become a true democracy by getting rid of the House of Lords and British monarchy.
“Next year, Scotland has a choice. We can deliver the largest ever pro-independence majority in Holyrood's history and reject a unionist cabal led by Farage.
“Polls consistently show that momentum behind the Greens is growing, and our membership is skyrocketing. We have the best chance of securing a pro-independence majority with more Green MSPs fighting for an independent Scottish republic.”
The poll had a sample size of 1165 with fieldwork carried out between October 1 and 8.
