STEPHEN FLYNN is among a host of current and former MPs who have been accepted as potential SNP candidates for the 2026 Holyrood election.
Both Dave Doogan and Stephen Gethins – part of the SNP cohort in Westminster – have also appeared on the list seen by Holyrood Magazine.
Former MPs who lost their seats in July last year who have been approved include Hannah Bardell, Anne McLaughlin and Tommy Sheppard.
Others who have made it past vetting include Alan Brown, Amy Callaghan, Allan Dorans, Patricia Gibson, David Linden, Steven Bonnar and Deidre Brock.

Also making the list are Kirsten Oswald, Anum Qaisar, Alyn Smith, Alison Thewliss and Richard Thomson.
Calum Kerr, who was an SNP MP from 2015 to 2017, has also been approved – as has Scottish Government special advisor Jack Middleton.
It comes as nominations to stand as a candidate for the SNP in one of Holyrood’s 73 constituencies open on Monday for four weeks, with more names potentially announced before then including sitting councillors and party activists.
An SNP spokesperson told the magazine: "We look forward to fielding a strong selection of candidates who are ready to stand up for their communities and move Scotland towards independence."
