POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a 27-year-old man was found dead over the weekend.

Jack Trainner was pronounced dead at the scene after officers attended an emergency callout to Brookfield Road in Port Glasgow at around 9.05pm, on Saturday, April 27.

Police said there would be an increased officer presence in the area amid an “extensive investigation” to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

Detective Chief Inspector Graham McCreadie, from the Major Investigation Teams, said: “Jack's family and friends will continue to be supported throughout our enquiries. It’s vital we find out exactly what happened to him and I’m appealing to the public for help to do that.

"If you have any information that may assist officers with their enquiries, then please get in touch as soon as you can.

“We would also like to view any private CCTV or dashcam footage from the area and between 6pm and 11pm Saturday."
