The manager of an award-winning restaurant in Helensburgh shares his delight of their success in the Scottish Curry Awards.

Masala Twist on James Street was announced the Indian Restaurant of the Year for Scotland and also named as the south west Indian Restaurant of the Year at the award ceremony which took place in Glasgow on Monday, April 15.

The event recognises and celebrates the talents and hard work of individuals and businesses within the Scottish curry industry.

Subu has been managing the Masala Twist restaurant in Helensburgh for around a decade and its sister restaurant in Dumbarton for the last five.

He credits the win to his staff team who always try to deliver high standards of customer service for the community.

He told the Advertiser: "I am feeling great about the win. It is a very exciting moment for us and our staff who have worked hard for this achievement.

"We have our amazing chef from India and the hard-working staff who are giving their best standard each and every time.

"We take great pride in serving delicious and authentic food to our customers. Most our employees have been part of the team for the last five or so years, so it is great they get the recognition they deserve.

"It truly wouldn't be possible to do this job without them."

Last year, the team won ‘Voters' Best Choice Restaurant of the Year' accolade for the south-west of Scotland and the whole of the country.

And it doesn't stop there, as the team are now looking ahead to the annual Spice Awards and to competing alongside restaurants across the UK at the British Curry Awards.

And Subu has one message he wants to give to people in Helensburgh and beyond who have continued to support the business.

"We are incredibly thankful to the people of Helensburgh," he added.

"Most of our customers are regulars and they have become part of my family.

"When they visit they are always treated like our family. We make sure they come through the doors with a smile and leave with the same smile.

"Without them we wouldn't be where we are now and continually recognised in different awards.

"They have always been so supportive and for that I am grateful.

"I am definitely very privileged to work in a lovely place like Helensburgh."
