EMERGENCY services are continuing to battle a large blaze at a recycling plant in North Ayrshire more than 32 hours after it started.
Two crews and one aerial appliance remain at the Fenix Battery Recycling on Byrehill Place in Kilwinning after being called to the area on Monday night.
People have been urged to stay away from the area since around 10pm that night and residents have been told to close their windows and doors.

At its height, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent six fire engines and one height appliance to the area.
By Wednesday morning, two crews and a height appliance remained although there were no reports of any casualties.
One resident, Shelly Smith, told STV News: “We were woken up by loud bangs which we thought were fireworks and then family calling asking if we were ok as they could see the flames and smoke and were worried it was our house.
“We could then see the smoke from our daughter’s room and the sky lighting up along with the bangs, it looked like fireworks flying out of it.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
