A forest in Scotland has been named one of the "most beautiful" places in Europe to see spring flowers bloom.

Time Out's list includes spots across the continent such as the Keukenhof in the Netherlands, and Stockholm in Sweden.

Introducing the list, the prestigious travel magazine said: "We all know Europe is a wonderful place to visit at pretty much any time of year. The streets turn gold every autumn, while the winter season sees twinkling lights flung up on buildings, lampposts and everything in between.

"But spring is when the world looks alive again, with dazzling flowers breathing new, vivid life into parks, squares, riversides and forests right across the continent. So, from the forests of Scotland to the mountains of Poland, these are the best places to see spring blooms in Europe."

Why was this Scottish forest named one of the 'most beautiful' places in Europe to see the spring bloom?

Kinclaven Bluebell Wood in Perth and Kinross was named one of the "most beautiful" places in Europe to see spring flowers bloom thanks to the abundance of bluebells that "carpet" its forest floor.

Time Out said of the Scottish forest: "Bluebells are about to sprout all over the UK, but the aptly named Kinclaven Bluebell Wood in Perthshire boasts one of the boldest, bluest displays. The flowers completely carpet the forest ground, which is nestled cosily on a bend of the River Tay. It’s quite a spectacular sight."

According to the Woodland Trust, the forest is also home to several wonderful animals such as the pine marten, the great spotted woodpecker, fallow deer and redwing.

Beyond its bluebells, the forest also hosts several other beautiful plants and flowers such as the primrose, wood anemone and common dog violet.

This was the only Scottish and British locations named on the list with the other spots being found in places like Poland, the Netherlands and Scandinavia.
