ALL Under One Banner (AUOB) has called on the leaders of the Scottish Greens to speak at an upcoming independence rally.

In a letter to Patrick Harvie and Lorna Slater, AUOB said the upcoming Glasgow march on May 4 was a chance “for the broad independence movement to unify”.

The rally is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 4 and is a march both for Scottish independence and “against the war on Gaza”.

The National:

We previously told how AUOB rebranded its graphics and messaging ahead of the march to include calls for a ceasefire in Palestine.

In its letter, AUOB said it shared the Greens’ “long-standing opposition to nuclear weapons” and that it was “delighted” with Harvie’s condemnation of Keir Starmer’s “complicity in the unfolding horror in Gaza”.

It continued: “We would like to underline our solidarity with you by inviting the co-leaders of the Scottish Green Party to address our rally in Glasgow on May 4 but if, unfortunately, this is not the case then we would be grateful if it could be arranged for a member of your national executive to address the rally.

“This mass mobilisation is an ideal opportunity for the broad independence movement to unify in action for the urgent need for Scottish independence.”

The National has approached the Scottish Greens for comment.

The letter further added: “If neither of you are able to attend on May 4, we would be very glad if both or either of you would be able to take part in another of this year’s three scheduled AUOB demonstrations.”

These are due to take place in Stirling on June 22, Elgin on August 3 and Edinburgh on September 7.

“We are determined to build the largest and broadest turnout we can for May 4 and, as time is pressing, it would help us enormously if you could provide a favourable response to our request by Monday, April 15 so we can maximise public interest and turnout,” the letter added.
