A TEENAGER has been rushed to hospital after a car burst into flames on a busy Glasgow road.
It comes after reports that Barrhead Road was closed by police due to a crash near Hurlet Cross.
The incident happened on Saturday evening at around 7pm.
Officers were called to the scene and found the incident involved two vehicles.
A fire started in one of the cars due to the collision, and this was put out by firefighters.
One driver, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries.
The force arrested the same man in connection with alleged road traffic offences.
Officers are continuing to investigate what happened.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7pm on Saturday, March 23, 2024 we were made aware of a two-vehicle crash on Barrhead Road, Glasgow which resulted in a fire in one of the vehicles.
“Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished.
“One of the drivers, a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment.
“The same man was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and enquiries are ongoing."
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
