POLICE have confirmed the death of a teenage boy in a Scottish town.

It comes after officers responded to a "concern for a person" report in the Borders town of Peebles on Wednesday morning.

Police have now said that a 16-year-old boy has died.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of concern for a person near to Victoria Park in Peebles shortly after 5.40am on Wednesday, March 20.

“A 16-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
