FLOOD warnings have been issued for parts of Scotland with heavy rain forecast to spread across the country this week.

On Tuesday morning, 29 Scottish Environment Protection Agency (Sepa) flood warnings, where flooding is expected, and 12 flood alerts, where flooding is possible, were in place.

The risk is highest at high tide times and will be exacerbated by high winds. Winds across Scotland are expected to reach up to 34 miles per hour on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The agency stated: "There's a risk of coastal flooding in the East, South West and across the Western and Northern Isles today (Tuesday).

High spring tides and large waves may result in wave and spray overtopping so take care when travelling on exposed coastal roads and paths. Regional flood alerts have been updated and further local warnings will be issued as required."
