A “STUNNING” Scottish country house and former hotel has been put up for sale.

East Haugh House, near Pitlochry in Highland Perthshire, was run as a hotel business for more than three decades by a family team before being sold on as a private residence in 2021.

The 17th century home, and its extensive outbuildings set within roughly two acres, have now been put back on the market.

Agents Graham and Sibbald, alongside Rettie and Co, are marketing the property and asking for offers over £1.15 million.

The agents say the sale “offers a fantastic opportunity to acquire a stunning country house, set within its own grounds, with additional property and re-establish the former hotel business”.

Built more than 350 years ago, the house was a part of the Atholl Estate.

It has seven bedrooms as well as a five-bed annex and a separate three-bedroom cottage.

Alistair Letham, a hotel and leisure consultant with Graham and Sibbald, said: “The East Haugh House previously operated as a quality, destination, country house hotel some three years ago.

"The property since has been used for exclusive occupation and therefore could easily revert to full use if new owners preferred that.”

Chris Hall, a director of rural professional services with Rettie and Co, added: “Pitlochry has long been one of Scotland’s most popular towns attracting domestic and international travellers all year round and East Haugh is well placed to capitalise; and Highland Perthshire is one of Scotland’s most sought after and expensive residential locations for good reason.”

The husband and wife team of Lesley and Neil McGown had run the hotel from 1989 until its sale in 2021.

They said it had “been acquired by a family who plan to revert it back to residential use” in October 2021, but it has now again been brought to market.
