TWO people have been arrested after campaigners with This is Rigged sprayed fire extinguishers full of soup over the Scott Monument.

The action follows a similar one in George Square on Monday where protesters targeted the statue of Queen Victoria.

At the weekend, two people poured jam and porridge on the Kelvingrove museum bust of Queen Victoria and wrote “c***” on the plinth.

It comes as This is Rigged issued two new demands late last year – for essentials such as baby formula to be reduced to March 2021 prices, as well as a call for the Scottish Government to set up a community food hub per 500 households.

At around 11.30am on Tuesday, two people with This is Rigged ascended the steps of the Scott Monument with fire extinguishers filled with soup and emptied them over the marble figure of Sir Walter Scott inside the monument.
