POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 29-year-old was killed in a fatal car crash outside a Scottish town.

Officers have put out a call for information after a collision near the Dalscone roundabout, on the north-eastern edge of Dumfries.

Police were called to the scene at around 11.30am on Sunday, March 3. The road was closed for more than 12 hours before being reopened at around 00.30am on March 4.

Officers said the man who died was driving a white Ford Fiesta, which was involved in a collision with a blue Vauxhall Corsa. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his next of kin have been told.

The driver of the second car, a 67-year-old woman, was unhurt.

Police Sergeant David Kerr said: “Our inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.

“The road re-opened at 00:30 hours on Monday, 4 March, 2024. I want to thank members of the public for their patience while we investigated this serious collision.”
