FOOTAGE has gone viral of cars being moved by strong waves in Scotland amid flood and wind warnings.

The video, which has more than 130,000 views on Facebook, shows two cars being pushed by dramatic waves over the rails at the promenade in Leven, Fife.

One person watching the weather outside shouts "f*****g hell man" as the cars come towards the house. A red car approaching the turning up the road, towards the cars, can be seen reversing.

It comes after Aberdeenshire Council said it was closing the area around Stonehaven harbour on police advice due to the risk from “overtopping waves” and sea conditions that posed a “serious risk to life”.

Drivers in Fife are being advised to avoid the area near the promenade due to the high tide destroying the barrier along the seafront.

On Friday, Fife Coast and Countryside Trust said: "Please be aware that a number of sites along the Fife coastline have been inundated by sea water.

"Access to Pathhead Sands is not advised due flooding. There has also been damage to the front at Leven near the swimming pool."
